Blizzard denied a LAN-mode for SC2 2.0 recently. This feature will allow you to find players in your local network to play with them online/custom game.

You still have to be connected to the BNet...

Blizzard stated 1-2 weeks ago: "LAN-mode doesnt match with our philosophy".

i lold. Diablo 1-2 got LAN, SC1 and BW got LAN, WC 1-3 got LAN.

Since Activision bought Blizzard, they´re punching the players faces...

But iam sure that you guys are adding the missing features via StarFriend. ;)

The project is still VERY promising and it worked flawless when i tested it.

well as 2.0.4 is out, this feature is indeed LAN BUT under teh Battle.net umbrella!

in other words to see your friends in the LAN you have to authendicate throught battle.net, and then play in lan, during that time random checks to b.net will take place!
if there is going to be a disconnect during gameplay logically lan players will continue play among each other!

SF project shoulg grasp this new version, and exploit the b.net authentication, so that will allow you LAn but offline.
SF for me its very important and promising project but for months now, there are no real big progress and people are stuck in the 1.4 game version!
the 2.0.4 will be less laggy in my opinion. still i dont know how the new packages are in the 2.0.4........SF team has some serious challenges to face very soon! 8-)

That feature is a step in the right direction indeed.

Either this is a preparation for an upcoming offline-feature within an official release or its just a more simple way to play with friends.

Independant from that its certainly a possibility for StarFriend to create an offline-mode easier.

Since Blizzard gave us the network gathering for LAN, SF only has to remove the BNet authentication..

Didnt think about that yet.. damn!
